Next section >> Manage usersFrom this screen you can do the following:
Add a new userFor each new user you want to add yourself, choose their title (this field is unavailable for students) and user type from the drop-down menus and type in their first name, surname, username and password. The username must be at least four characters long, and the password must be six characters or more. Be sure to choose an appropriate username as, unlike the other entries, this cannot be changed. You can also add an email address for the user, but this is an optional field and can be left out. Users, including students, can self-register.If the new user is a student, you can associate them with a group at this point. The Group drop-down menu shows all the groups currently set up in your SNAB system selecting one of these will associate the student with that group. Teachers and technicians can work with any groups on the SNAB system so you do not need to associate them with a particular group. To find and amend an existing users detailsFrom the 'Manage Users' screen click the 'Find Existing Users' link. You will be taken to the 'Find Existing Users' screen initially, where you can search for the user you wish to change details for.
You can search on:
Simply enter the term you want to search on, select a user type from the drop-down menu to narrow the search (if required), and click the Search button to begin. A list of possible matches is returned showing the users name, user type and group (for students). If the user you are looking for is not in the list, click the 'Search again' link at the top to return to the search screen for a fresh search. Note that clicking Search with no search term specified returns a list of all users on the system. To change the details of any particular user, click on their name to view the 'Amend Existing User Details' screen. This is the same as your own 'My Details' screen and you can once again change any of the users details apart from their username. If a user is locked out after failing to log in correctly five times, you can unlock their account on the Amend existing user details screen. To delete a user from the SNAB systemTo delete an individual user, click the 'Delete' button on the 'Amend Existing Users Details' screen. To delete a number of users in one go, from the 'Manage Users' screen click the 'Delete Users' link. Choose the type of user to delete from the drop-down menu and then tick the boxes for the users you want to delete.Be aware that the users details will be completely removed from SNAB when you do this. For example, if a student has completed some activities and tests, deleting the student will mean they can no longer log in, and their teacher will no longer have access to that students records. Changing a user type will also mean that existing records are lost from the system. To import students into SNAB from an external CSV fileTo save time when setting up students, you can import the details of a group at a time from a CSV file. CSV is a commonly used application-independent file format often used for exchanging information between different applications, most commonly spreadsheets and databases. You can create a SNAB-compatible CSV file using a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Office Excel, or by exporting data from your school/colleges class management database. If you are not sure how to get the data in this format, you may need to speak to your network manager and ask them to get the file for you.The CSV file should have no column headings and must contain only student details, with each student in their own row. The fields recognised by SNAB Online are first name, last name, username, password, email, group name, year level and calendar year. These fields must be arranged left to right in the order shown. The fields in bold are required and the ones in italics are optional. If you choose to import group name, you must also include the fields Year level and Calendar year in your CSV file in that order, in the format described on the screen. Make sure that the CSV file does not contain any duplicate usernames or the import will fail. To start the import process, click the 'Import Students' link on the 'Manage Users' screen.
